I have only recently come into the 21st century and am working my way around the internet. Its not as easy as driving a Caterpillar DH tractor or 19 R.B,excavator so I was not even aware of the medal until I rewiewed the Royal Engineers Regiment 410 Independent Plant troop in Malaya for 1959 to 1962, when I was out there.
Anyway, it is good to know that after all these years there is still a great spirit of comeradery amoung our former sapper mates and there are a few that have kept in touch.
I was L/cpl John Brennan (J.B,or Paddy Brennan)known for playing the guitar.
I'm determined to post this comment as I have already lost two blogs in response to your request for info. about veterans and history of 410 plant troop
Regards John Brennan Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4460513812883529593.post-33411426808474325072012-10-01T17:56:21.557+01:002012-10-01T17:56:21.557+01:002013 Reunion2013 ReunionJohn (Dinger)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17939054158747645288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4460513812883529593.post-22199268367090249982010-12-29T12:35:59.888+00:002010-12-29T12:35:59.888+00:00Click Title to see videoClick Title to see videoJohn (Dinger)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17939054158747645288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4460513812883529593.post-27382630429207906462010-03-10T11:10:40.913+00:002010-03-10T11:10:40.913+00:003 comments:

Dear All,
Go to eithe...This is the email from Mick.
Dear All,
Go to either "Google" or "You tube" and search for, "The Average British Soldier."

The original is called, "Sgt McKenzie" and is written and sung by Joe Kilna McKenzie. I believe Joe wrote the song in memory of his Great Grandfather, a Moray man, from Bishopmill, who along with hundreds of other Seaforth Highlanders from the Elgin/Rothes area, in Scotland, went to fight for King and Country in the Great War. Sgt Charles Stuart McKenzie was bayoneted to death at the age of 35, whilst defending one of his badly injured colleagues in hand to hand fighting in the trenches.

Over 90 years later our brave troops are laying down their lives, in very similar circumstances. A very moving piece that is guaranted to stir emotions at this time of the year.
Best Wishes,
MickJohn (Dinger)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17939054158747645288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4460513812883529593.post-79538774384999480492009-11-08T12:39:42.795+00:002009-11-08T12:39:42.795+00:00Thanks to Mick Norton for this link,I have just co...Thanks to Mick Norton for this link,I have just come back from the largest remembrance parade I have ever seen in Blackpool. Hi, Dinger,
what ...Email received from Jim Loach

Hi, Dinger,

what a first class bit of work you've done there. I am so pleased you've done it because there was something special about 410. After having served 22 yrs. 410 is always the unit that stands out in my mind as being the best unit I served in, where I learned such a lot and I think grew up too.

I spoke to Walt Dixon the other day and he said he would ring back as he was just going out but I have had nothing yet. Trev Trev rang me ther day and told me he found Ian Hoskins. The name is familiar but I can't place him. Trev is coming down to Gloucester to meet him and hopefully I'll go up to see them both as well.

I've had no luck in contacting Joe Nelson although a guy called Joe Worsnip, who knows him, said he had passed my details on to him. I think probably the email address is incorrect. I'll persevere anyway. Any Info I get now I'll pass on to you now and again well done for setting up the site.

Best regards to Margret and yourself,

JimJohn (Dinger)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17939054158747645288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4460513812883529593.post-76275308355052081112009-07-06T09:12:07.854+01:002009-07-06T09:12:07.854+01:00brilliant site, hope it takes off.
